So, its holiday time! Time to relax, restore and reflect…
It’s been a fascinating year that started with a yoga retreat and set the tone for what was to come.
I have learnt that being healthy is so much more than eating a healthy diet and I am keen to really spread that message.
Indeed, I co-hosted a ’Let’s talk about women’s health’ event last week where I shared healthy tasters and recipes. Instantly one lady said, ‘ so do you feel better from making dietary changes.’ My reply was of course ‘Yes, I keep great health because I eat well, but it is all meaningless in isolation. Eating a healthy diet is great but if you do not address your stress levels then it will have minimum impact.’
It is so important to take a holistic view of health. I would really recommend the book Ikigai Ikigai: The Japanese secret to a long and happy life by Hector Garcia.
This book outlines the lifestyles of people living in countries around the world who experience the lowest incidence of disease and the greatest longevity. Diet and exercise are very important but there are numerous other contributing factors including having a sense of purpose and being part of a community. There is also a strong sense of slowing down, and mindfulness, & incorporating low- intensity movement daily. Daily movement such as walking, gardening, Tai chi, yoga, or similar forms of exercise, have extraordinary health benefits.
So, I am thrilled that a big part of Harriet’s Healthy Kitchen is now about working in collaboration with some fantastic individuals who indeed can help us all to achieve this essential mindfulness and movement.
I am planning on taking time out with the family over the summer, but I will be back in September with many new exciting projects, including a ‘Relax and Regenerate Retreat Day’.
Come & join us and experience the joy of movement with Emma (www.spacorepilates.co.uk) & discover the benefits of mindfulness from mindfulness expert Cathy Bosworth. I will be serving up a delicious and nourishing vegetarian lunch & healthy snacks.
We still have a few spaces left but we would urge you to reserve your space as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

We of course hope that this will be the first of many to come!

In the meantime, I wish you all a wonderful relaxing summer.
