Is it time to change the record? Create habits not resolutions in 2021!

‘Is it time to change the record?’ I smiled when I heard this at the end of my ‘calm’ meditation the other day. I remember it is a negative phrase that was thrown around when I was younger to stop someone whingeing…’will you just change the record?’…… However, here it was associated with positive possibilities, and as a music lover, it resonated with me deeply. The truth is we can change our own record, and this is a powerful message to share…

This is often the time of year that people have an opportunity to pause and reflect and plan for any changes they might want to implement next year….

And when it comes to your health… I invite you all to pause and consider if it is time to ‘change the record’ this year.

You see many people start out with good intentions when it comes to health. They create new year’s resolutions to lose weight and get fitter.

It is always a great idea to take better care of your health. However, if you like many people are searching for that elusive ‘quick fix, ‘one size fits all’ approach, and you jump in feet first and throw everything at it… you might feel great for a while, but it is also very likely that you might find yourself among the many who find themselves back to square one once the initial motivation wears off. To return to the record analogy, you might find yourself playing the familiar tune: ‘It’s just too hard, it just won’t work for me…I will never be … thin, fit, attractive…’(you fill in the blanks)

So, what else might be possible?

Well, there is another way if we just pause and look at health from a different perspective… What if we let go of the quick fixes, and stop comparing ourselves to others? What if  we were patient with ourselves, gave ourselves time to set up small achievable and meaningful habits? We might just be able to create better health for months and years to come. Could it be possible that the healthier choice becomes something we just do without thinking about it because it just becomes a habit?

I firmly believe that we all have the power to create better health and well-being for ourselves and that it doesn’t need to be difficult, in fact it has the potential to bring us so much joy.

I also firmly believe that most people know what to do, they often just don’t know where to start.

This is where I would love to help. I have spent this year learning the skills to help people turn their healthy inspiration into action as I qualified as a Health Coach.

I can help you step back and get clarity around what is important to you, and why,  and support you to create new habits that will last long after your usual ‘New Year’s resolutions might have faded into the background.

It can be difficult to make change on your own. We all know how much easier it is to achieve our goals if we have someone by our side to do it with us and cheer us on…

As a coach I can provide you this important support and accountability to help you achieve your personal goals. I am passionate about health & well-being and have plenty of information and inspiration to share but what is most important is that you determine what is relevant for you….it’s all about YOU.

I also provide group health coaching. As anyone who knows me would agree I am passionate about social connection and have been running supper clubs and collaborating on health and well-being events over the past few years. No one has all the answers, which is why bringing people together to share ideas and inspiration is so powerful.

  1. What a beautiful and inspirational post Harriet! I will share this on my wall in the hope that it will inspire others. Health and wellness means different things to everyone but I love your community approach which gives people the opportunity to share their stories and to get love and support in their own health journey whilst sharing ideas. As you say, lots of people know what they need to do, what is missing is the guidance, support and accountability to be able to take empowered action and thats where coaching steps in!
